Don’t Come a Knockin’….

When we’re not camping at a campground, we have limited battery life to run lights for a long time.  We can generally watch a movie or a few TV shows on the laptop, but that gets boring.  There’s the obvious answer, but in the interest of preserving the suspension on our trailer, what else can we do now that it’s dark at night?

So, we’re soliciting ideas from the peanut gallery.  In any random, generic town in the US, where can we go after dinner to entertain ourselves?  Bonus points to people who come up with ideas that are free or cheap (say, less than $15).  Let the creative juices start flowing!

If you're worried abou thte trailer's suspension, just use the truck. ;)

Cheap activities... there's bowling. Depending on where you are, small-to-medium college athletics is cheap (e.g. basketball, hockey, etc.)

Okay. I hate to point out the obvious. Candles? Campfire? Coleman lantern? That way you can read and do what you usually do at the camper with light.

Library. Go to the library. Free internet (usually) and hound the stacks for interesting things.

Take up star gazing.

If it were me, headlamp and knitting. :)

People watching at the mall? Tell ghost stories? Walk around downtown holding your camera at hip level and taking random pictures? Hang out in the 24 hour Walmart looking for the "best deal"?

You know you don't have to do your extra curricular activities in the trailer or the truck. There are lots of other fun places you can try....:)

Bars that have trivia or karaoke. Maybe you can nurse one drink all night just for the entertainment. There are a couple bars here in DC that also have ping pong tables.

In most college towns you can go ice skating (if they have a rink).

It is the halloween season. I nice walk in the local cemetery might do nice for a good close snuggle later.

Seriously, the history you can feel when visiting is amazing.

I"m with Holly Jo... a lamp and knitting will do me just fine.

However, as Wal Mart is in nearly every town, there's always the scavenger hunt option:

you could always take a flashlight and go lie down in a deserted field and look for four leaf clovers!

How about going to local soup kitchens or food banks or something and doing some volunteer work?
I know that sounds odd coming from me, but everyone else had good, funny stuff, so I figured I better come out with something different.

You can also do the sorts of things we did as kids after hours, but you may wear out your welcome ringing door bells and running away.
